Cast Iron Potty Band @ the Handsome Devil

Boyfriend Rob is bringing the Cast Iron Potty Band back to Elora - Winnipeg’s own, and most fun jug band, are returning for a special show at the Handsome Devil Bistro in Elora, Sat July 25, 7 pm , no cover. Great menu.

What is a “jug band” you ask? Well, picture a washboard instead of drums, a washtub, hockey stick and rope for bass, a jug for a DIY tuba, add in guitars, mandolin, banjo and even some harp and accordion, plus sweet harmonies… amd voila, you have a jug band. We play all the hits from the 20s (the 1920s that is!) Expect a gloriously unhinged good-time that makes you question everything you thought you knew about musical instruments! No cover.

Silvia Dee & the Boyfriend perform a roots-driven blend of blues, rock, swing with cool choice covers, original music and some Mardi Gras spice.. Rob Deyman (a.k.a. the Boyfriend) plays stellar electric, resonator and acoustic guitars, mandolin and adds harmonious vocals. Silvia plays keyboard, delivers sultry vocals and rocks the accordion. Expect showstopper moments and high-energy walkabouts through the audience. 

As a duo we represented the Grand River Blues Society at International Blues Challenge in Memphis,Tennessee.  We lead, play and record with our larger  project, (waterstreet blues band) and were finalists in the  International Songwriting Competition with the original song “Riverside Child” recorded and regularly performed by us as a duo.

We appear at local venues in Southern Ontario, and in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Halifax as part of Via Rail Artist on Board cross-Canada tours. We’ve appeared at festivals such as Lighthouse Blues, Belmont Bestival, Kitchener Blues, beloved Porch Party Festivals and many more.
